Jobs Queensland is backing industry-led action to meet the future demand for workers in the Health and Community Services Sector
Our latest Anticipating Future Skills Series 4 data projects that an additional 68,500 people will be employed in the sector by 2025-26.
Seven organisations across Queensland will share in $1 million to meet this demand with funding directed to workforce development, attraction and retention projects.
The Queensland Care Consortium (QCC) has been established to ensure this investment is designed and implemented by industry representatives who fully understand the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
Projects given the green light out of the Round 1 grants include a community-led capability building support program for First Nations People, a mental health industry connection program, and a collaborative platform to support age care workers.
Details of the funded projects are available below:
Aged Care Workforce Alliance
Apunipima Cape York Health Care
Central Queensland Indigenous Development
Mater Misericordiae Ltd
Multicultural Australia
Queensland Alliance for Mental Health
True Relationships and Reproductive Health
As a Healthcare Executive outside of my role at Jobs Queensland, I have first-hand experience as a clinician, an educator, a manager and a leader in the sector.
Linked to the Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy, this is the first-time funding of this kind has been made available to the sector to create and implement workforce development, attraction, and retention strategies and help address workforce issues.
Funding was open to not-for-profit community organisations, industry organisations, and enterprises. Out of the 46 applications received, the seven successful organisations are based across the state: in the South East, Western Downs, Rockhampton, Woorabinda, Cairns and Cape York regions.
The Queensland Care Consortium is a partnership between Jobs Queensland, CheckUP Australia, Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA), Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) and The Services Union.
