Anticipating Future Skills report and data tools now available

Anticipating Future Skills: Jobs growth and alternative futures for Queensland to 2022 is now available from the Jobs Queensland website.

This research undertaken by Jobs Queensland was launched at a briefing in Brisbane on 5 November 2018 attended by more 150 industry, community and government representatives.

Developed in consultation with industry and community stakeholders across Queensland, the research uses economic modelling and scenario planning to provide projections about Queensland’s future workforce up to 2022.

According to the baseline, there were approximately 2,373,000 people employed in Queensland in 2017, and by 2022 employment is projected to increase by almost 190,000 people, or eight per cent. Anticipating Future Skills report cover

Regardless of the scenarios used in this analysis, employment in Queensland is projected to increase by between 7.6 and 9.3 per cent by 2022.

Economic modelling outputs are available by industry, region, occupation and qualification. A series of interactive data tools are available free of charge on the Jobs Queensland website that enable more detailed exploration of the data.

Industry and community briefings on the outcomes of this research have also been held this month in Cairns and Townsville.
