Cairns Post – Demand for farm managers in the Far North
Demand for farmers and farm managers in the Far North has nearly doubled in three years amid strong growth in horticulture.
The Department of Employment’s Internet Vacancy Index shows there were 51 new positions advertised online in the year to November 2015, compared with 27 in the year to November 2013.
Jobs Queensland chairwoman Rachel Hunter said demand for agriculture workers could be influenced by a range of factors, including weather and trade conditions.
“In the future workers will need digital literacy as technology plays an ever-increasing role in the industry,” she said.
