    The Sunshine Coast Labour Market Profile coincides with ‘Season of the Dev’ hosted by Screen Queensland and funded by Jobs Queensland. It provides a snapshot of the region's workforce composition, employment and unemployment, business figures, and education and training pathways.

    Embracing the unique spirit of the Sunshine Coast, this place-based games and skills development program offered a holistic approach to promote participant health and wellbeing while gaining invaluable business skills.

    Going beyond traditional training, the program fostered an inclusive environment to promote the diversity of practitioners in the games-development industry through a series of tailored programs.

    Delivered from March to 31 May 2025, Screen Queensland worked in collaboration with industry leaders and training organisations to elevate the skills of local games developers through the 4-month series of interconnected events involving:
    • workshops, panels and mentoring sessions
    • networking events
    • a games jam (3-day event).

    Topics included:
    • games development
    • game design/narrative
    • programming
    • games business/production
    • personal development for creative professionals centred on mental health.

  • Targeted micro-credential for licensed security officers – Cairns and Townsville

    Australian Security Industry Association Ltd (ASIAL)

    Implementing a recommendation of the Queensland Security Industry Workforce Development Plan 2020-2025, ASIAL has developed a micro-credential course to address skills gaps and build skill levels to improve the productivity and performance of the state’s licensed security officers.

    Delivered on-site in both Cairns and Townsville with an online, flexible delivery option for other regions, the Skills enhancement for Security professionals’ course has been designed by security industry representatives through a partnership between Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) and Jobs Queensland.

  • AgriConnect - Toowoomba

    Queensland Fruit and Vegetable Growers Ltd (QFVG)

    Addressing 2 key recommendations of the QLD Agriculture-Industry Workforce 2022–2027 plan, Queensland Fruit and Vegetable Growers Ltd are improving workforce attraction for people who are culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) through a pathway-to-employment program.

    The Agri-Connect training program aims to assist employers with recruitment and retention challenges, build cultural competence and develop strategies to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce which supports local migrant workers enter the local labour market.

    The 12-month program started in mid-2024.

  • Driving Townsville’s Future - Townsville

    Queensland Trucking Association (QTA)

    The Queensland Trucking Association support people who:
    • are seeking employment in the transport and logistics industry, or
    • want to upskill into a higher licence class.

    QTA partnered with small and medium-sized enterprises based in Townsville and a registered training provider to deliver the Cert III in Driving Operations core units in a pre-apprenticeship training program. Through this program, participants gained the skills to enter the transport and logistics sector.

    By implementing a recommendation of the Townsville Workforce Development Plan 2020-2025, this project:
    • enabled participants to progress into apprenticeship/traineeships across the road passenger and freight sectors
    • addressed critical skills shortages for the region.

  • Greater Digital Skills Program – Greater Whitsunday Region

    Greater Whitsunday Alliance

    The Greater Whitsunday Digital Skills Program supported the uplift of business digital literacy in the region to increase digital knowledge sharing in the regional small and medium-sized business community.

    Through intensive mentoring and ongoing support for digital adaptation of business operations, integration of digital technology and skills and the innovative region-specific training program, small businesses regionwide were empowered to begin their digital transformation journey and address workforce challenges locally.
