The Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) and the Rural Jobs and Skills Alliance (RJSA) partnered with Jobs Queensland and the Queensland Government to deliver the Queensland Agworkforce Summit earlier this month.

The Summit provided an opportunity for Queensland agribusinesses to discuss workforce issues and strategies to ensure they have a sustainable workforce over the next five years, and network and learn about innovative strategies to attract, retain and skills a workforce to help them grow.

Jobs Queensland Board Chair, Donna Bonney, spoke as part of the Summit’s opening address and noted the importance of the industry’s most critical resource for a sustainable future – its people.

Ms Bonney also acknowledged Jobs Queensland’s partnership with QFF not only in the delivery of the three-day Summit, but the development of the Queensland Agriculture Industry Workforce Plan 2022-2027 and the Agworkforce planning resources.

Jobs Queensland’s Director of Workforce Planning and Development, Leticia Grigorieff, presented on the topic of workforce planning in times of change, as part of the Summit’s adaptability theme.

This session spoke about the importance of workforce planning and how, when done effectively, it can deliver positive outcomes for agribusinesses.

The recently released specific AgWorkforce planning resources were also promoted to attendees to help build their knowledge and capability, respond to changes in their workforce, explore opportunities for growth, and look at the future of their business.

There was also a lot of discussion around the Queensland Agriculture Industry Workforce Plan 2022-2027, with attendees asked for input to help guide the implementation of the plan around the four key themes.

The feedback from participants will now be reviewed and considered as part of the next steps to actioning the plan.
