Our Cairns Regional Consultation Breakfast event saw hundreds of Cairns locals connect with our new board members to discuss the future of jobs in the region, on Friday 1 March 2024.

With employment rates in Cairns set to increase by 7.5% to over 142,000 workers by 2025-26, the event united local stakeholders to discuss workforce challenges and opportunities in the region.

Our valued Cairns stakeholders met the refreshed Jobs Queensland Board chaired by prominent Queenslander James (Jim) Varghese AM who brings over 30 years’ experience leading government agencies in Queensland and Victoria.

Attendees heard from:

  • Jobs Queensland Executive Director, Joshua Rayner
  • James (Jim) Varghese AM, Chair of the new Jobs Queensland Board
  • Shaz Gerchow, Manager – Policy and Workforce, sharing Anticipating Future Skills workforce data
  • Danielle Carey, Cairns-based JQ Board Member, facilitating a discussion on jobs in the region.
