Jobs Queensland strives to shape a better future for the social and economic prosperity of Queensland. Some of our work to date includes:

  • publication of the Queensland Tourism Workforce Plan 2017–20
  • overseeing research and progressing a substantial body of work on anticipating skills needs, with a particular focus on industries and regions
  • providing workplace planning advice to potential growth industries and projects, including Advanced Manufacturing, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™
  • piloting place-based approaches to anticipate skills needs and workforce planning and development to:
    • deliver a regional workforce plan for the Fraser Coast in partnership with TAFE Queensland and the CSIRO
    • support skills and employment opportunities in Ipswich, in partnership with Ipswich City Council
    • deliver a workforce development plan for Townsville as part of the Townsville City Deal
  • research-based report/s on the impact of structural adjustment on workforces within industries in Queensland.

Advanced Manufacturing Skills Training and Workforce Development Project

Jobs Queensland is in consultation with industry to develop a Skills, Training and Workforce Development Strategy with the aim of advancing manufacturing in Queensland.

Anticipating Future Skills

The Anticipating Future Skills project will assist Jobs Queensland in providing advice about anticipated skills needs and also feed into other programs of work such as workforce planning and development.

Growing Opportunities in the Fraser Coast: Informing regional workforce development

In partnership with TAFE Queensland and the CSIRO, Jobs Queensland is leading the Regional Workforce Development Plan for the Fraser Coast project.

The Expert Forum – supporting Anticipating Skills Needs

The Expert Forum bought together experts in skills forecasting, workforce development and planning and skills development to inform Jobs Queensland’s approach to anticipating skills needs.
